Megan Burns is currently serving as the Senior Manager of Scholarships and the Rusk TJC Citizens Promise Program. With a wealth of experience in scholarship administration, Burns is dedicated to fostering educational opportunities for aspiring scholars.
In 2014, with the establishment of the Rusk TJC Citizens Promise Program, Burns joined the TJC Institutional Advancement team as the Coordinator of Scholarship Recruitment and Retention. In this role, she played a crucial part in establishing the college's first community-based "Promise" program, focusing on student success through personalized one-on-one support services. Her efforts were aimed at ensuring successful enrollment and college completion for participating students.
Having stepped into the Senior Manager role in 2023, Burns, drawing on her comprehensive background in scholarship management, now leads a dynamic team. She supervises the implementation of policies and procedures to improve delivery systems, enhance office efficiency, and maintain a high quality of service. Burns takes pride in contributing to the success stories of scholarship recipients and playing a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of leaders. Her favorite aspect is the opportunity to connect donors and students, fostering meaningful relationships.
Burns holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Religion from East Texas Baptist University, providing a solid academic foundation for her leadership in scholarship administration and student support services.
In her free time, Megan enjoys decorating homes for Christmas, volunteering at church, and road tripping with her family.
