Alamo Community College

Dr. Jose Rios is the Director of Operations and Advancement Services at the Alamo Colleges District.  Operations and Advancement Services is responsible for the Alamo Colleges Foundation’s Donor Management System, data analysis, reporting, and policies and procedures for the Office of Institutional Advancement.  The department serves as the subject matter expert for development best practices in areas of responsibility.  He has been in higher education for more than 25 years.

In his previous role at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, he served in a range of capacities, including outreach, development, business services, and academic affairs. While working in P-16 Outreach Division, he assisted in the development and implementation of the Texas Work-Study Mentorship Program.  As Assistant Director in the Workforce, Academic Affairs and Research Division, he took a leadership role in making current FAFSA and ApplyTexas data available to high school counselors across the state in a systemic manner.  

His TRiO experiences—first as a participant of Upward Bound Program at Tarleton State University, and later as TRiO professional with the Texas State University Educational Talent Search program—have given him a unique perspective to higher educational policy. 

Dr. Rios holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Concordia University; Masters of Business Administration from LeTourneau University; and bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tarleton State University.
